UPDATE: Official says sees Russia’s weekly inflation at 0.1% in April
(Adds details in last paragraph)
MOSCOW, Apr 8 (PRIME) -- Russia’s inflation will remain at 0.1% a week this month, Deputy Economic Development Minister Alexei Vedev told PRIME on Friday.
“I think that (weekly) inflation will amount to 0.1% this month,” Vedev said.
On Wednesday, the Federal State Statistics Service said that inflation stood at 0.1% in the week from March 29 till Monday, and price growth reached 2.1% since the year’s start.
Vedev said he believes that a recent World Bank’s inflation forecast of 5.9% and gross domestic product of minus 1.9% in 2016 are overly pessimistic. “Absolutely. Unrealistic. Our outlook is better,” Vedev said.
